ConServR: Converting Application Files
Convert files between popular application formats
ConServR converts popular application and graphic file formats such as MS Office, Adobe PDF, HTML, Lotus Smart Suite, HP-PCL, and PostScript to output formats such as text, TIFF, PDF, PostScript, HTML, JPEG, and RTF.
ConServR combines Lincoln's expertise in conversion technology with the latest processing technology to support high-throughput document conversion applications.
Common applications include:
- Fax Solutions - Fax servers and fax broadcast services accept native documents that must be converted to a TIFF format for faxing
- Document Management - As solutions for managing and archiving documents migrate to the Web, users of such systems need to convert stored documents from their original file format to a viewable file format

Input and output files may be presented in several ways. A Web browser interface lets users select and upload input files from their PCs or workstations. Converted output files may be downloaded to users or sent via email. The programmatic interface integrates with existing applications and converts input files in designated directories and places output files in likewise designated directories.
ConServR employs a modular design that allows it to exist on a single processor or be distributed over several local or remote processors. This design incorporates load balancing to provide maximum throughput in critical applications. The design is flexible, allowing each ConServR implementation to meet specific application and installation requirements. Concurrent users or applications may utilize ConServR without a significant decrease in performance. ConServR is scalable - processors may be added to increase throughput, provide load sharing, and implement fault tolerance.
ConServR for Windows
ConServR for Windows runs native applications, such as MS Word and Adobe Acrobat, to convert application output such as Word documents and Adobe PDF files to other formats. ConServR for Windows ensures that the resulting output is identical to the print output of the original file.

ConServR for Linux
ConServR for Linux uses open source applications to emulate MS Word, Adobe Acrobat and other applications so that their output can be converted, on Linux, to other formats. Although ConServR for Linux is robust, it is possible that the resulting output file will differ slightly from the print output of the original file. Such exceptions are not common, but they cannot necessarily always be remedied because the applications used to emulate the original application are just that - emulators. If the converted output file must always be 100% identical to the application print output, then ConServR for Windows is required.
